Monthly Buys | March 2016

Today is the beginning of a new month and I am really excited because it's 20 more days to Spring. Yaaay!!!! I don't know about you but I'm ready for bright colours and sunny skies.

So for the first day of March, I was contemplating on whether to do a what will be my first ever Monthly favorite post or to do another Makeup look. But unfortunately both of them lost :p. I went back home to Liverpool last weekend to see my parents and we took a trip to Hereford for my baby nephew's Christening and his big brother's 2nd birthday, so I was way to preoccupied to do any makeup look over the weekend. But I had so many orders waiting for me when I got home to Liverpool that I thought it would be punishable by law if I didn't share the goodies that I got with you.
I'm trying to set a goal each month for my blog and I'm hoping that you guys will help me out. So this month's goal is to get to 12,000 Views and 10 Subscribers.
I know, I know 10 subscribers is nothing but to me, it means a lot. So don't forget to share this post with your friends if you enjoyed it, read it as many times as you'd like it's FREE ;) and if you are a regular why not subscribe and get notified whenever I have a new post and if you're new - Well hello there and Welcome to my page (don't forget to subscribe).

So without further ado, let's get this part-ay started:

HUDA LASHES | £15.50
I'm going to start of with my favourites. Lashes. Super excited that I finally joined the Huda Beauty community. Finally purchased my first ever lashes from Huda Beauty. The style I got is Scarlette #08. Now these babies are not cheap. The most expensive lashes I own are my Ardell Wispies I got for £9.99 and that comes in a pack of 5. Huda Lashes range from £12.50 to £18.00. £15.50 for a per of lashes in my book is a bit steep BUT these lashes look absolutely gorgeous. They're super dramatic, very wispy and super long. I haven't worn these lashes yet but I've already fallen in love with them just from a glance. I am planning on buying a few more and doing an in depth review of these lashes and other brands in a future post so let me know if you'd be interested in that.

BACKSTAGE LASHES | £6.00
I first purchased these lashes November of 2015 for my birthday trip to Paris but for some bissare reason, I lost three of them before I got back to the UK so it only made sense for me to re-purchase them all. Backstage lashes are one of my favourite eyelash company by far. First reason being that they're based in the UK. It's very hard these days to get a lot of makeup products because they're all based in the US so I was super excited that this company is based in the UK. Definitely going to do my bit to promote this UK brand (and no I'm not being sponsored by them but in the voice of David So (from JK News) please sponsor me hehe :P). These four lashes are my favourite styles from them with Soho being my absolute favourite and I think it's mostly because I am truly, madly, deeply in love with Soho lashes from Kokolashes. Vegas is the most dramatic style amongst the four, followed by Soho. Hollywood and Chelsea are more on the "natural" side in terms of the thickness of the lashes. Liverpool and Essex are the most natural styles they've got. The best part of these lashes is that each lash retails for only £6.00. If that's not a bargain, I don't know what is.

I'M REAL FACE MASK SHEETS (S. Korean Brand)
It's very hard to get your hands on Face sheets in the UK. Most of the face sheets are produced by Korean makeup companies which are not very easy to get here in the UK. So I was absolutely ecstatic when cult beauty announced they would be introducing more Korean brands on their site. The only face sheet I currently own, I bought from Sephora when I was in Paris. I still haven't used it because it's so sacred to me. It's currently tucked away in my drawer waiting for that special occasion to use it. But now that I can easily get my hands on a face sheet for only £6.00, I can use it whenever I please. I got the sheets in Lemon (for brightening) and Tomato (for Radiance). Let me know if you'd like a full review of all the different types they have on offer. They have:
  1. Aloe (Moisturising)
  2. Red Wine (Pore Care)
  3. Rice (Clear Skin)
  4. Tea Tree (Soothing)

ZOEVA RODEO EYE BELLE | £15.00
I praise Zoeva a lot and if this is the first time you are hearing me mention it on my blog well then let me be the first to inform you of my love for this makeup brand. Too Faced is my all time favourite makeup brand in terms of eyeshadows. Zoeva places second. I love everything about them. I love their eyeshadows, their makeup brushes, their blushes, liners, lipsticks etc. I currently only have one eyshadow palette from Zoeva and 1,000 brushes from them so it made sense to buy another eyeshadow palette. This time instead of my usual love for neutrals, I decide to go with something more vibrant. I chose the Rodeo Belle palette and thank God I did. Everything about this palette is God sent. The colours are super pigmented and vibrant. Each colour is very creamy; almost buttery, which I know can be a con for some people because the more buttery/creamy an eyeshdaow is, the more messy and fall out you get. But that's expected and that's something I can definitely live with. This palette is made up of 10 eyeshadows with 4 matte shades and 6 shimmery shades. My favourite shades from this palette will have to be Bang Bang, Yee Haw!,  and Hot Wind. Yee Haw has a duo-chrome finish. It's a gorgeous iridescent blue colour with specs of green and yellow. So beautiful. I definitely recommend this palette for anyone who is looking to add a little bit of colour into their collection. Zoeva is so underrated and it sucks that a lot of people do not know about them. For such great quality and affordable price, you definitely have to try it.
Rodeo Belle [Zoeva] | £15.00
From Top to Bottom: Dead Shot, Day Money, Smoking Gun, Hot Wind, Yee Haw!, Bang Bang, Western Diva, Cactus Flower, Rodeo Ready, Early Sunrise
CREAM CRUSH LASTING COLOUR EYESHADOW (06 PEARLY CHOCOLATE) | £6.90
I usually do not wear cream eyeshadow because I have such bad oily skin. Cream shadows tend not stay in place very long on my lids so I was a bit hesitant about this. But I decided to give it a go anyway because how beautiful this colour is. It's such a beautiful brownish, taupe colour with just the right amount of sparkle. I got it on sale for about £2.00 during Valentine's Day but the normal retail price is £6.90. It also comes in about 10 different shades.
Kiko Milano #6 | £6.90
FREEDOM MAKEUP LONDON BROW POMMADE | £5.00
I don' really know how I feel about this product to be completely  honest. This is supposed to be a dupe for the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Pomade and for a dupe I'd say this is pretty good especially for the price. First and only pro I have about this product is that it's difficult to take off. Which for lip and brow products I actually do not mind at all. In fact I prefer it that way. I want my lip and brow products to stay on as long as possible. One major con which has left me very indecisive about this product is the fact that this just like the ABH brow pomade it's very hard to guess what colour to buy. It's like trying to guess your foundation shade from an online store. It's hard enough guessing your shade in store let alone from pictures. I have dark eyebrows but I always use a dark brown/chocolate shade pencil to fill in my brows because it makes them a tad bit lighter and more subtle. As you can see from the picture, Dark Brown is more like Jet Black which really pissed me off. So even though I have tried and I do like the formulation, the colour completely betrayed my trust for this product. But who knows, maybe when I calm down a little bit, I'll purchase another shade, give it a second go and update you guys on it.
Freedom Makeup Brow Pommade [superdrug] | £5.00
BARRY M LIP LINER (CHOCOLATE #6) | £2.99
Another Coloupop dupe you ask? Well sure why not. For someone who cannot wait for Spring to start I am suddenly clawing my way to darker lip shades which makes no sense at all, specifically brown shades. I have a feeling it's all Kylie Jenner's doing. Since the launch of Kandy K, instagram has been blowing up with so many brown lip shades. This is a dupe for Kandy K by Kylielipkit and Limbo by Colourpop. It's more on the light chocolaty shade. This is my first time trying Barry M lip pencils and I must say I am super impressed. I shall make a note to purchase more and so should you :)
Barry M Lip Liner Chocolate #6 [superdrug] | £2.99
NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream (SMLC) | £5.00
I wish I can join everyone in saying how much I love these lip creams but I just can't. Don't get me wrong I do not hate them. For the price I can deal with all the con, I just wish they'd met my expectations in being so amazing as everyone has been going on about. I do like the fact that they come in a variety of shades to suit every skin tone. I like how creamy and moisturizing it is even thought it has a matte finish. One major con for me is how they apply. It applies very patchy especially with the lighter shades (Stockholm). I had to apply at least 3 coats to really get the coverage and pigmentation that I wanted. I'm really hoping that I got a bad batch or something because the colours they have on offer are so gorgeous and  for the price, it's such a steal.
NYX SMLC [boots] | £5.00

L'OREAL TELESCOPIC MASCARA | £10.99
I've been hearing a lot of good things about this mascara on YouTube so like everything else I decided to jump on the bandwagon and give this a try. I love it and I do recommend this for people who cannot afford the Benefit They're Real Mascara. This wand is super thin so it helps really elongate and single out your lashes. It's exceptional for lower lashes. £10.99 might seem a bit steep for a mascara especially when it's coming from a drugstore brand but for the quality, I'd say it's worth the purchase.
L'Oreal Telescopic Mascara [boots] | £10.99
REAL TECHNIQUES CLEANSING PALETTE | £12.99
I don't know about you but I hate washing my makeup brushes, or my plates, or my clothes basically anything that involves washing or sweeping or mopping....okay fine....I hate chores! There I said it. But for the first time in my life I was so damn eager to give my brushes a clean. I normally use the old school method aka my hands to wash my makeup brushes only because the makeup cleansing gloves are so damn expensive. So when I saw this on superdrug, mama had to get it and get it she did. If you have a lot of makeup brushes like I do, believe me when I say this will cut your cleaning time in half and not only that, this will clean your brushes 100 times better than your hands will [not sponsored - just telling you the honest truth from my experience with this]
Real Techniques Cleansing Palette [superdrug] | £12.99
PRO OVAL BRUSH | £3.30
You and my mother and your mother and your auntie's daughter all well know about the famous Toothbrush Makeup brush....oh wait! I'm sorry! I meant the Artis Brush. I've been wanting to try this brush when M.A.C first released this type of brush in 2014 and now that Artis has made it super popular I want it even more. But there's no way in hell I am spending £60 on a makeup brush especially when I'm not on a six figure YouTube salary.....Are you crazy?!? So instead I went on my very trusted website (eBay) and looked for a dupe for these brushes and low and behold I found one. So quick review - I actually like it! Not love but like. The brush is very dense and very soft so makes your foundation glide on smoothly and give you a flawless finish. No streaks whatsoever. The con I have about this is that I think it sucks up a lot of product so you'll have to probably use twice as much product as you'd normally do. Secondly because of how small the brush is, it takes forever to apply foundation, however this is perfect for concealing (under the eye) and contouring.
Pro Oval Brush [eBay] | £3.30
So this is the end of the haul. Did you like any of the products I purchased and which ones will you be trying? What would you like to see more of? More hauls, more reviews, more makeup looks?
